Frequently asked questions
How do I apply for Grade 9 admission 2083 at Himalaya College?
How long is the Grade 9 program?
What are the compulsory subjects in Grade 9 and 10?
Grade 9 and 10 students take English, Nepali, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies as compulsory subjects, matching the SEE syllabus set by the National Examinations Board. Alongside these, students choose one elective subject based on their interest and intended stream at +2. Health and Physical Education also continues as part of the regular timetable.
What elective subjects does Himalaya College offer at Grade 9 and 10?
Students choose one elective from four options: Account (Accountancy), Computer Science, Economics, and Optional Mathematics. Himalaya College does not run any CTEVT technical or vocational elective streams, so all four choices are academic subjects meant to prepare students for +2. Parents and students are encouraged to pick the elective that matches the stream the child is likely to pursue after SEE, such as Optional Mathematics for Science or Management-bound students.
Can a student change their elective subject after choosing it in Grade 9?
Electives are generally meant to be chosen at the start of Grade 9 and carried through to SEE, since the subject builds on itself over the two years. A change is sometimes possible early in Grade 9 if there is a genuine reason and the school is informed promptly, but it becomes difficult once the syllabus has progressed. Parents are encouraged to discuss the elective choice carefully with teachers before finalizing it, considering the student's intended +2 stream.
What is the fee for Grade 9?
Does Himalaya College offer scholarships?
Yes. Students who rank first, second or third in the final examination are entitled to full or partial scholarships. Scholarships are also awarded on a merit basis every year to financially underprivileged students.
